Where BoxCast shines
BoxCast has streamed church services for years, and its plans are generous on viewing: every one includes at least 10,000 viewer-hours a month, viewer chat, captions on recordings, AI-assisted clips, and streaming to Facebook, YouTube and X. TV and mobile apps are a paid add-on. If streaming is the only thing your church needs handled, BoxCast does that job well.
Where WorshipMetrics is different
Max costs less ($79/mo against $109 a month billed yearly) and puts your stream on your own page and domain, with up to 10 destinations at once, live chat with prayer requests, and every service recorded. It's also the platform your team uses to plan the service, run lyrics and slides, move the cameras, and watch every device in the booth, and all of that is on Free before you pay anything.
Switching
Switch in one encoder setting.
Point your encoder at us
On Max, we turn hosted streaming on for you within one business day, set up your ingest and run a first test stream with you. vMix, OBS, Tech Manager or a hardware encoder sends to us over RTMPS or SRT. That's the whole migration.
Keep BoxCast running
Add your BoxCast channel's stream address as a destination, and WorshipMetrics passes your service along to it. Nothing changes for your BoxCast viewers while you try Max.
Add your destinations
YouTube and Facebook connect with a sign-in. Twitch, Restream, Castr and other RTMP destinations go in by their stream address, and if we don't send to a service yet, we add it for you.
Bring the team along
Import your people from a spreadsheet, build this week's plan, and Sunday runs through one platform, with 910-WORSHIP behind it.
Questions
WorshipMetrics vs BoxCast, answered.
How does WorshipMetrics pricing compare to BoxCast?
BoxCast's streaming plans start at $109 a month billed yearly, or $119 month to month, and include at least 10,000 viewer-hours a month. WorshipMetrics Max is $79/mo at founding prices ($99 regular, locked 12 months if you sign up by December 31), with 1,000 viewer-hours a month on your page and website player. That covers about 200 people watching an hour-long service every Sunday, and people watching on YouTube or Facebook don't count.
Can WorshipMetrics do what BoxCast does?
For hosted streaming, yes, on Max: your own live stream page and website player, your own domain, up to 10 destinations at once, live chat with prayer requests, and every service recorded. BoxCast has things we don't, like captions and TV apps, and includes more viewer-hours. The table above lays it out.
Do we need a hardware encoder?
No. Tech Manager on a church computer can send the stream itself from a capture card, your ATEM's USB output, or Present's picture, and Present can show any NDI source on your network. Or it can set up OBS or vMix to send it. If you already own a hardware encoder, point it at WorshipMetrics over RTMPS or SRT.
How hard is it to switch from BoxCast?
Change one encoder setting. We set up your ingest on Max and run a first test stream with you. Your BoxCast channel can stay on as a destination until you're ready to turn it off.
Your live stream, handled.
Choose Max and we'll get your encoder pointed at WorshipMetrics together, at $79/mo locked for 12 months if you sign up by December 31. Or start free and bring your team in first.
