From the vMix Web Controller to WorshipMetrics: Growing Your vMix Volunteer Team

The vMix Web Controller is a great way to share one job at a time. When your volunteers are ready to do more (talk as a team, get alerts, see the wiring, get help, and control vMix from anywhere), WorshipMetrics builds on it. Here's what each one does, side by side, and how volunteers grow from one to the other.

From the vMix Web Controller to WorshipMetrics: Growing Your vMix Volunteer Team

Start with what you already have

The vMix Web Controller is the easiest way to share vMix: free, built in, and it works in any browser on the church network. For many churches, it’s the right first step toward splitting vMix roles.

As the team grows, though, the questions change. Not just “can a volunteer edit a title?” but “how does the team know the plan, find out the stream stopped, and get help when the person who set it up is away?” That’s where WorshipMetrics comes in.

Use both. The Web Controller is perfect for a titles volunteer on a laptop; WorshipMetrics is what connects that volunteer to the rest of the team.

How a volunteer grows

  1. First Sunday: a phone or laptop on the Web Controller, one job (titles, or the stream).
  2. First month: invited to the WorshipMetrics team. They see the schedule, the team chat, and the Sunday plan, from any Mac or PC browser.
  3. A few months in: they take the camera seat with Camera Control, or back up the director from the WorshipMetrics vMix panel.
  4. Later: they help from home on a Sunday the tech director is away, with alerts on their phone and the full panel in their browser. (See can volunteers run the livestream when the tech director is out?)

How it’s set up

  • Tech Manager runs on the vMix computer in the booth. It talks to vMix locally and keeps one secure outbound connection to WorshipMetrics, with no port forwarding.
  • Volunteers sign in to WorshipMetrics in a browser on any Mac or PC. They can also install Tech Manager on their own PC (a Mac version is coming soon).
  • vMix keeps running in the booth. Switching never depends on the internet. (See cloud vMix production for churches.)
  • Local control in the booth is free. Cloud control from anywhere comes with Pro ($49/month) and Max ($99/month).

More: your livestream team, connected even when they’re not at church.

Do volunteers need Tech Manager to use WorshipMetrics with vMix?
Tech Manager runs on the vMix computer in the booth and connects vMix to WorshipMetrics. Volunteers can then sign in from a web browser on any Mac or PC. Volunteers can also install Tech Manager on their own PC (a Mac version is coming soon).
Is the WorshipMetrics vMix panel free?
Local control in the booth, through Tech Manager, is free on every plan. Using the same panel from anywhere (cloud control) comes with the Pro plan ($49/month) and Max ($99/month).
