SongShow Plus in 2026: Where It Stands Today & Alternatives

Is SongShow Plus still around? Yes: it's still sold and updated. Its current version, price and update plans, who should stay on it, reasons churches move, and the alternatives worth comparing, free and paid.

SongShow Plus in 2026: Where It Stands Today & Alternatives

SongShow Plus has been putting lyrics on church screens for a long time. Its news archive goes back to 2005, and plenty of churches have run it every Sunday since. If you’re one of them, or you’ve inherited a booth computer with it installed, you’ve probably wondered whether it’s still around.

It is. SongShow Plus is still sold and still updated. Here’s where it stands in 2026, who should stay on it, and what to compare if you’re thinking of moving. We read SongShow Plus’s own site and store on October 17, 2026.

Where SongShow Plus stands in 2026

  • Owner: SongShow Plus is a trademark of R-Technics, Inc.
  • Current version: 9.3, released June 12, 2026 and announced July 29, 2026. It added the NRSVue Bible and is available to all current subscribers.
  • What’s next: SongShow Plus 10 has had preview releases (August 2025 and April 2026), labeled as not for production use. There’s no release date yet.
  • Platform: Windows only. SongShow Plus says it’s designed to work primarily with Windows 10, and there’s no Mac version.
  • Status: active. There’s no discontinuation, sale or merger notice anywhere on the site.

What it costs

From SongShow Plus’s store (pricing effective July 1, 2023):

ItemPrice
Ultra Edition$549 list, with a special price of $249, including the first year of updates
Bronze update subscription$180/yr
Silver update subscription$240/yr
Platinum update subscription$450/yr
Extra projection license$95
Projection site license$399
Workstation (prep only) licenseFree

The Basic and Pro editions are listed as “not available at this time”. New sales go through GoFishMedia, which lists SongShow Plus 9 Ultra Edition at $262.70.

That’s an unusual model in 2026: a one-time purchase plus an optional yearly update subscription, where most competitors are now subscription-only. If you want software you buy once, that’s a point in SongShow Plus’s favor.

Who should stay on SongShow Plus

  • Windows churches that are happy with it. If it runs your service reliably and your volunteers know it, switching costs time for little gain.
  • Churches with a large existing library of songs and services built in it.
  • Churches that prefer buying software once rather than subscribing.

If you stay, keep your update subscription current and keep the booth computer on a Windows version SongShow Plus supports.

Reasons churches look around

  • No Mac. If your church is moving to Macs, SongShow Plus can’t come with you.
  • Version 10 isn’t out yet. Previews have been running since 2025; if you need features it promises, you’ll be waiting.
  • Installed desktop software. A free Workstation license lets someone prepare slides on another computer, but check how changes reach the booth before relying on it for Saturday-night fixes.
  • A smaller ecosystem. Fewer volunteers, integrators and online tutorials know it than know ProPresenter or EasyWorship.

Moving your library

Before you switch, check what you’d need to bring with you:

  1. Most of your songs are probably CCLI songs. With a CCLI church license, SongSelect lyrics are free, and most modern tools can import from SongSelect or its file formats. Re-importing is often faster and cleaner than converting old files.
  2. Custom songs and liturgy can come across as plain text. In WorshipMetrics Present, paste plain text into Songs, or import ChordPro, OpenLyrics or OpenSong files if you have them.
  3. Backgrounds and videos are ordinary media files. Copy them off the booth computer before you retire it.
  4. Run both side by side for a few weeks. With a free tool like Present or FreeShow, that costs nothing.

Bottom line

SongShow Plus isn’t dead. It’s a maintained Windows product with a buy-once price, and if it serves your church well, there’s no urgent reason to leave. If you’re moving to Macs, want your team to edit from anywhere, or want to stop paying for presentation software altogether, there are good alternatives, several of them free.
